How to remove mold from ball caps?

With and attempt to get organized I bought a couple hat racks to hang all the Navy ball caps my husband and I have aquired. Well… now every single one of them has mold growing on them. I am guessing that it started with one or two and having them all touching it easily spread. I live in the northwest, so I realize the problem may never completly go away. How do I remove the mold from these cap without discoloring? Clothes washer with bleach/vinegar? Dishwasher?
Do you put them in the dishwasher with the detergent? Wouldn’t that discolor them?
I feel like I should be clear that it’s not just a funky smell- it fuzzy (scary) mold. I use vinegar for a lot of cleaning, I will give that a try.

Use vinegar in removing mold stains and smell. Vinegar is very useful and effective in removing the ‘moldy’ smell and stains from baseball caps. Add 3/4 cup white vinegar to a load of wash. (or 1/4 cup for a small load such as the cap).

The vinegar will remove any moldy smell from the cap. Repeat this process until all traces of mold and its smell are gone. Make sure to use detergent afterwards!

PS if this still doesn’t work use lemon juice with salt instead of bleach on a sponge to retain the cap’s color. After applying wait ten minutes and rinse.

Good luck, this actually worked wonders for my fiance’s caps!
